The
artists of Lorimer Station Studios
(LSS) proudly announce their second annual spring art show which
will be held on Friday May 17, 2002 at 6:00pm. LSS in Williamsburg
is a collective of passionate artists who share ideas and inspiration
in a dynamic environment.
Founded 8 years ago by artist Krzysztof (Chris) Pytlak, Lorimer
Station Studio was transformed from an abandoned factory loft
on Metropolitan Avenue into a thriving hive of painting, drawing,
thought and energy.
The artists of LSS consider the place an artistic educational
center. They congregate for life drawing sessions that also include
artists from outside of the studio. This, of course, adds to and
compliments the unique atmosphere that has been created by the
artists at LSS. They all take an interest in each other's work.
Lorimer
Station Studio is a family of artists working in many different
mediums and many different styles. Oil, acrylic, pastel, assemblage,
photography, and textile paint are just some of the mediums used
to create works of art that are conceptual, figurative, expressionist,
surreal, academic and pop. It is fair to say that this studio
is bustling with activity both night and day. The artists of LSS
have succeeded in creating a rare thing: a true workspace that
puts dedication first. It isn't just an art studio. For many,
it is home.
Lorimer Station Studio has created a niche for itself in the neighborhood
and has established friendships and partnerships through their
art shows. Ipcress F (i.e, the
Shipwreckers) provided the music for the fall exhibition,
and this year we will have the pleasure of presenting live music
by Andrew
Shapiro and colleagues.
Please join the artists of LSS and their family and friends in
this celebration. Stop in for a drink, listen to the music, and
look at the art. It is guaranteed that around every corner you
will see or hear something that you will enjoy. You never know
what you might discover. The opening is Friday May 17, 2002 from
6-9pm and continues Saturday May 18 - Tuesday May 22, 11 -5pm.
